Funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, the Faculties of Engineering and Education of The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) spearheaded a three-year CUHK Jockey Club AI for the Future Project (“the Project”). The Project’s objective is to create a new artificial intelligence (AI) curriculum, a sustainable AI education model, with relevant supporting infrastructure to establish a conducive ecosystem in AI education for Hong Kong’s secondary schools.

The Project develops a special AI education toolkit, CUHK-JC iCar, leveraging the past efforts from CUHK research team on the field of AI. CUHK-JC iCar is a combination of STEM/ STEAM and AI education, and teachers can easily upgrade their existing STEM/ STEAM curriculum to AI education using CUHK-JC iCar supported by the commonly used Blocky programming environment. The 9 built-in AI functions inside CUHK-JC iCar facilitate students to learn and experience AI without handling complicated computations. Students can also develop their own AI projects with other possible functions of CUHK-JC iCar.

Through this application, users can connect their mobile to CUHK-JC iCar by Bluetooth without programming. The application can control CUHK-JC iCar’s movement, light effect and sound effect through keyboard inside the application. Users can also carry out 3 experiments including obstacle avoiding, object tracking and line tracking through the application.
